Well hello thar! It's been an interesting few weeks of tweaking, and upon majority requests, here is the finalized game mode that's on rotation on Omega:

Randomizer (runs on standard cp, pl, plr, tc and koth maps)

Standard Arena Mode (runs on standard TF2 arena maps)

Prophunt

Dodgeball

MGEmod

All modes (except for MGEmod) are available via rtv and nominate, and maps from each game mode are randomly selected through end map voting. MGE Training mod will be manually called if players request for it, since it's a pretty niche request.

Introducing: The Alpha and Omega

We are proud to announce a revamped lineup to the Agentcy series of servers, which will differentiate between what server 1 and 2 stands for.

The Agentcy | Alpha: All-talk instaspawn server on normal map rotation, the Agentcy you all know and love

The Agentcy | Omega: All-talk instaspawn server on custom map rotation, where Prophunt, Dodgeball are active

Zombie Fortress is present on the server, but inactive, as there's still a couple of tweak left to be done. As for other mods or plugins such as Stomp or Wario, it's currently sitting in our pending box, and we'll look at player demand to evaluate if it should be turned active.

Please do make theagentcy.blogspot.com your regular destination, which would give you server updates and news, and more importantly, map lists for Omega server. Please do let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions you'd like to share.

I've lumped King of the Hill and Zombie Fortress maps under Others simply because I'd like to hear on what other maps you'd like to see, as we just end up downloading every koth and zf map we can find, which isn't very productive use of our time.

So there you go! This may seem like a Prophunt and Arena heavy list, but that's certainly not an indication of what the server is going to be favouring - let us know what you'd like, and we'll put have it included in rotation.

Finally, we will be revealing mechanics structure for Agentcy 2, which will feature themed days and mod preferences. More details tomorrow!

The Agentcy 2!

It's been a long time coming, but we're inching closer to unveiling our second server, which should please many of our regulars who's been requesting for the return of an Agentcy custom map server.

We expect setup and testing to commence tomorrow, and if everything works out fine, Agentcy 2 should be able to go live in two day's time :)

Ohai! If you could just ignore the fact that our last post was a year ago, we can just move on ahead and assume this blog is useful once again. In any case, welcome back to The Agentcy, and boy we've taken a long journey to get here.

To quickly get everyone back on track in terms of what has happened, here are some of the highlights:

Feb: The Agentcy was revived under the name Agentcy 3.0 using the same hosting company we were with back in the days of Agentcy 2.0. That proved to be a huge mistake, as it was clear that they continued to have bandwidth and performance issues.

March: Left said hosting company for good, started talks with BolehVPN. Agentcy 3.0 was created.

April: Migrated to a more advanced and modern gaming management system, makinng off-site updating and player management easier. Agentcy 4.0 was born.

April: Server crashes identified as issues with Steam updates. Recent Steam updates, particularly the Hatless Update, was hugely problematic, as it introduced a series of corrupt files and errors from their end. We had to reinstall TF2 3 times before problem is rectified.

April: Agentcy 4.1 goes live, with Sourcemod disabled. Am thinking of re-installing Sourcemod, as a new version has been released.

Title says it all! We're back, alive, and better than ever, with the introduction of 2 lovable servers. You guys noticed that there isnt rtv / rtd action going on is perhaps we're in the midst of testing out plugins which are buggy that will make Agentcy servers jerk. So yeah, be patient while our R&D specialist aka Mister "K" Console will do up the necessary. Cause the introduction of new scout pack and recent orangebox updates had made some plugins wonky.

Another thing: Some weapons can't be equipped properly, its due to the scout pack update too. There is some bug which i think Valve is working on. So, yeah, hold on when the update pack has been released. At the mean time, we can't do anything.

And oh, another interesting thing is, besides naming our servers as Agentcy 1 and Agentcy 2, K had the idea of making it as Server K and X. He very well know that server 1 will be more popular than server 2, therefore when I was setting up server 1, he made me constucted the whole thing under the name "K". God bless him!

Lag Problem Solved

Good news is that Agentcy's server is now lag free, alive and kick-ing ass. We're in the middle of setting up the necessary mods, adding more, more and more fun map and also, RTD :).

The bad news is that, our dear beloved Agent B is leaving for Germany at 4pm today. We are so gonna miss all the sniping and chop chops he gave us. So, on behalf of the Agents, i would like to thank you for being such a wonderful agent and a great friend. So can't wait till August that we could hang out again. Take Care~

FYI, K has been furious at me for the whole week because i had our server reformatted without having a backup copy of server's config file and all those mods. My bad~ Pls don't spike my food when i meet you next week for lunch. Lol.

Server Installation in Process

Yo Fellas,

Good news is that server has already been relocated. And we had a full time IT engineer standing by in the datacenter to aid us out if our server's network encounter any problem. They are in the process of OS installation and other server based softwares.

Although they are taking some time in getting things done, but i'll make sure that they'll do a slow and steady job. And we do really PRAY that the lag problem between TMNUT and their higher tier network would be solved by this relocation.

I'll Update again when all is ready and we're going live again.

Server Relocation 2

Quick announcement to let everyone know that we've temporarily shut down the Agentcy and have relocated the server to its new datacentre location in Brickfields. This will be our last relocation exercise, and with this, we hope that lag-be-gone.

I believe X will need time to set-up the server, as we're going to be installing tf2 from scratch, but I might be able to get a temporary copy of tf2 running while we perform installation of a new copy. Will keep you guys posted.

Lag Problem Identified

We've identified the real source of our lag and jerkiness issue, and our datacentre informs us that TMNet is experiencing core network problems, leading to packet loss and severe bandwidth issues. While I don't know the full extent of this problem, or why is it that the problem only seems to affect our datacentre, we've been advised that recovery time will take SIX hours.

Beyond our control, so we'll be hoping that we can bring Agentcy back up tonight. This has been a long and tiring issue, and we've been at it for many weeks. Hopefully, we've identified the real cause of the issue, and now it's up to TMNet to fix their shit. Feel free to send them hate mail. I know I will.

Server Downtime - Installing TF2

We'd like to inform everyone that Agentcy will be unavailable, possibly until this afternoon. While we've made the upgrade to a new server, we've been using the old copy of TF2. We are now in the process of downloading a completely fresh copy of TF2, which we intended to do anyway as we create Agentcy 1 and 2.

Our lag issue is still being addressed by our datacentre, but being the useless twats that they are, they are taking their time, so we're hoping a clean and lean copy of TF2 might help in the meantime. If the server's not back online, we're probably in the midst of installing and updating it, so hold onto your panties, it'll be back sometime today.

Thanks for being patient, we'll be back before you know it.

** UPDATE - 5:20PM ** Server update is still in progress. Anyone who's ever had the misfortune of updating TF2 from scratch will know what I mean. Steam server connection is rather slow, next post update will be to announce that our server is back up

Agents Outing 6-Feb-09

Finally, the Agents met for the first time. B, C, K, L, and me plus Ooity and also kclee2002. Its practically quite funny for us to meet L, ooity and kclee cause we have no idea how they look like. For 4 of us, its quite a norm (athough we didn't meet each other) cause we had facebook, Msn profile pic and stuffs.

K, the latest to arrive, as usual. Decided to lunch at Tony Roma. B's idea. He got some discount or something, and B's friend, Shaun got a 15% discount as well. So, all cool. We ordered, the food came and guess what. My RM40 lamb chop came in a big plate, a number of fries, salad, and 3 sad, puny pieces of lamb ribs. Omg man, 40 bucks for that kind of 'premium' food. *Beats B* . K can't finished his burger and blamed it on Shaun for the Shiitake 'shitty' Burger. C, the 'widest' of all had 2 freaking big peace of bread with gazzilions of fillings (height of a McD's Big Mac).

Had a 2 hr lunch, talking all the usual shit you hear in Agentcy. This time included the epic story of K trashing C's ass in Red Alert 3. Lol, you guys should see C's face. Kana kantoi~

We only met for a lunch and all of us went back and attend to our stuffs.

Its always great to become an agent. :)

The server upgrade has to be delayed to tomorrow morning due to the fact that I wasn't around to give instruction to Datacenter on when to shut down the server to perform the upgrade. (I got a good spank from Agent K for this. Trust me, you wouldn't wanna know the details. Lol.).

Server Upgrade Tomorrow!

The time has finally come, for we will be upgrading our servers to a long awaited new rig tomorrow. This upgrade now means that we will finally be hosting twin servers, both of which will be going live tomorrow.

IP address will not be changed, so you will still be able to access this server under your Favourites. We will be posting the IP address of the second server once we've finished setting it up.

A brief description on both servers:

Agentcy 1: All-talk, current Sourcemod plugins, casual server

Agentcy 2: All-talk, default map set, vanilla settings, for the more discerning pro, if there's such a thing

So there's one for those who want a little more seriousness in their TF2, and regular original recipe for good old Agentcy loving.

Server update in progress

Anti-Micspam Plugin Installed

Just a quick notice to inform everyone that an anti-micspam plugin is now in effect; this is to control excessive mic spamming.

The maximum time limit for voice transmit is set at FIVE seconds. Any longer than that, you will be muted. The plugin can be configured to kick and ban, fyi.

Lets keep the chatter to chit chat, bagus? I'll relax the restrictions as and when there are legit requests for song play.

First off, i would like to represent on behalf all the official Agents in thanking you guys who made The AGENTcy server popular. It was you guys who made The Agentcy going. :) Appreciate that.

Secondly, i would also like to apologize if we unintentionally said something which we weren't suppose to say.

The main purpose for me publishing this post is to let all of you know that The AGENTcy is ranked no.1 TF2 server in Malaysia and 3rd in South East Asia, just lagging behind 2 Starhub servers. And also ranked 280th among 4026 TF2 servers in the world. From what we see, we know that Agentcy is doing fairly well.

Lastly would like to wish all Agents and Tf2-ers a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.

Server has been updated to the latest steam and tf2 release. Its quite a huge update so i took the trouble navigating to the TF2's update news. To my surprise, it added new features to Engineers and Spies... this is gonna be exciting~

Map Change problem solved and 24 slots available

Guess what dudes!?

Problem solved for the map change error which makes the server auto restart itself. On top of that, K and I had given ./scrds (TF2 Application) a higher CPU priority thus making 24 slots available in our Agentcy server. It saves us the need having to upgrade it to dual core after all.

Just leave a comment if you guys want any specific custom map being uploaded to the server. We'll look into it and implement it on server later on.

Reinstallation of TF2 Server

i'm taking server down for a few hours to initiate a reinstallation. This is because the annoying map change problem still persist and we do not have time to look one by one into the game.

Server auto Restarts

We noticed that server shuts down and restart itself during certain map change which needed players to rejoin the server once more. This has been a annoying scenario, yes guys, we understand.

So, Agent K and I are working on it and check on the server logs to see what's the problem actually. If any of you know what is the problem that might cause this to occur, really appreciate it if you drop us a comment regarding it. We'll belanja you 'Yamcha' :)

Meanwhile please bare with it at the moment as we work our butt off on our daily chores. We'll attend to it when we're free.

Just a gentle reminder that our beloved Agentcy All Talk Server will be shutdown from 6am to 2am. 8 Hours of downtime for datacenter to restructure their network. This means there won't be any action for that time frame.

Please understand that this maintenence is not the doing of X or K, its the engineers in AIMS datacenter.

Votekick Enabled!

After much deliberation, votekick has been enabled, and activation ratio requirement has been set at 80%. Play nice and don't abuse the system, else I will take it away, and you'll all just have to deal with annoying players some other way.

To use votekick, open up your console or chat box and refer to the following example:

#votekick Agent K

If 80% or more players in the game voted Yes, then the nominated player will be kicked.

Voteban will not be activated, this is a feature that will only be enforceable by the Admins. Kthxbai.

Datacenter Maintenence

Dear to all Agentcy players, there will be a datacenter maintence on the 22nd November from 6pm (+8 GMT) till 2am of 23rd November. Approx 8hrs. Datacenter located at AIMS.

I just got the email from my service provider saying that they are rerouting the network and upgrading all the switches to the newest Cisco router, switches and firewalls. So.... this means, no gaming for 8hrs. :-

Server Update

Server will be going down for reboot and a Steam Client update at 9am +8GMT . This is to have the latest patch from Steam and TF2 itself.

I got complaints from users saying that some of the people do not know what is respect. They keep calling each other names and show disrespect by abusing other people verbally. ALTHOUGH this is an all talk server, doesn't mean that you can say whatever you like. Please keep in mind that if we receive complaints from people again, you will see yourself getting ban from the server. *PERMANENTLY*

Agent K will fix up the #votekick and #voteban commands, so that whoever you find annoying in game, can call up a poll to ask people to vote and kick idiotic people out of the server.

Upgrade: Delayed Till Dec 08

We are revising our upgrade plans for the moment, and as such, we will not be upgrading our server processor to that of a dual core. The cost for such an upgrade is prohibitive, so we're now opting to have our own custom built quad core machine sent down to the datacentre itself.

This will most likely take place early December as it coincides with travel plans. In the meantime, The Agentcy will be locked to 18 players to ensure all is smooth and well. Agent X and myself hold the two reserve slots, so if the both of us are in, you will then see a 20 player server.

BAT Plugin Added: Voters Rejoice!

Please be advised that we have implemented BAT as our general plugin for administration. Among many other things, this will allow you to execute the following in your console, or just have it typed in chat:

say timeleft
say /timeleft
say nextmap
say /nextmap
say #votekick
say #voteban

I believe some aspects are not active yet, but do provide feedback, and I'll see to it that voteban and votekick works.

As of now, Agent X and myself hold the Super Admin access, and it stays that way. We will not be entertaining requests for Admin status whatsoever. Unless you offer Fall Out 3 and a pack of smokes.

Introducing The Agents

We started out knowing each other playing in BolehVPN All Talk server. And from then, we stucked to the Agent nick names. Agent K, Agent A and Agent X then have this idea of setting up their own public server. So, Agent X made use of his linux admin skills and datacenter connections to bring this Agentcy alive.

We started out with a tight budget, therefore only a single core server was affordable for us, but we wouldn't want a crappy server to spoil gamer's fun in The Agentcy, so we decided to upgrade to a Core2Duo. It will easily handle the load. Date Expected : 6/11/08 .

Scheduled Reboot: Maxplayer change

The Agentcy will undergo a reboot at 3AM Malaysian time (+8 GMT) to have a maximum player count take effect.

The maxplayer limit will be changed from 22 to 20. This is to ease CPU load in the meantime while we wait for our new multicore server to come online next week. Let's face it, our current CPU is pretty crap, so we're looking at dual core loving to take effect, latest by Friday. We'll keep you updated.

** UPDATE ** Server rebooted at 12:30AM, max player set at 20. Do let us know if you're all still experiencing ridiculous lag issues.
